Julissa Gonzalez
A New Life Filled With Opportunity
Hudson County
When Julissa Gonzalez left Peru for the United States, she carried a simple but powerful hope—to build a new life filled with opportunity. Starting over in a new country wasn’t easy, but Julissa refused to let uncertainty define her future.
She discovered WorkForce Advantage through the Pathways to Recovery Grant, a program designed to help individuals affected by the opioid crisis gain training and access to meaningful careers.
Julissa brought the same perseverance and determination to her training that had guided her since arriving in the United States.
Finding a Pathway Into Healthcare
Julissa enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Through hours of study, clinical practice, and support from her instructors, she quickly distinguished herself as a dedicated student. Her compassion for others and strong work ethic shone through throughout the program.
Earning Her CNA License
Before long, Julissa completed the program and successfully earned her CNA license. The achievement gave her the professional foundation to begin caring for others while building the independent, stable life she had envisioned.
Independence, Stability, and Service
Today, Julissa is employed at Hudson View, earning $19 per hour. More than just a paycheck, the position represents independence, stability, and the fulfillment of her vision for a new life in the United States. She is contributing to her community by caring for patients and supporting her colleagues—an achievement that reflects both her resilience and the pathways created by programs like WorkForce Advantage.
A Remarkable New Beginning
Julissa’s journey reminds us that with courage, the right support, and a willingness to grow, new beginnings can lead to remarkable success.
